Opening the Part and Running the Static Study

  1. Browse to drive letter:\Users\Public\Public Documents\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS version\samples\Simulation Examples\Fatigue\link.SLDPRT and open the file.
    The part file has a static study ALT-FRAME-101 with loads and fixtures imported from SOLIDWORKS Motion. You use this study as the reference study for defining fatigue events.
  2. In the ALT-FRAME-101 study tree, right-click Mesh and click Create Mesh .
  3. In the PropertyManager, apply the mesh settings.
    Under Mesh Parameters:
    • Standard mesh: Selected
    • Global Size : 0.5 in
    • Tolerance : 0.025 in
    • Automatic transition: Cleared
    Under Advanced:
    • Jacobian Points: 16 points

    Mesh Quality: High

  4. Select Run (solve) the analysis.
  5. Click .
  6. Double-click Stress1 (-vonMises-) in the Results folder (change the units to psi and the Number format under Chart Options to scientific).
