Adding Connector Blocks to a Flattened Drawing

Once you create a connector block, you can add it to flattened drawings of routes.

  1. In an assembly file (.sldasm), insert two instances of a connector part file that corresponds with a connector block you created.
  2. Create a route between the two connectors. See Manually Creating a Route for Connectors and Auto Route.
  3. In the route, add a wire for each pin in the connector.
    1. Click Tools > Routing > Electrical > Edit Wires .
    2. Under Wire From-To List, click Add Wire.
    3. In the Electrical Library, add a wire for each pin in the connector.
    4. In the Edit Wires PropertyManager, specify a pin for each wire. See Specifying the Path for Each Wire or Cable Core.
  4. Click .
  5. Click Tools > Routing > Electrical > Flatten Route .
  6. In the Flatten Route PropertyManager:
    1. Under Flatten Type, select Manufacture.
    2. Under Flatten Options, select both Length Annotation and Use Drawing Connector Blocks.
    3. Select Drawing Options.
  7. Click .
SOLIDWORKS creates a flattened drawing of the route that includes the two connector blocks.
