Creating Connector Blocks

  1. Open an electrical connector part.
  2. Click File > Save As to save the part in a designated location.
  3. Click Tools > Routing > Electrical > Create Connector Block .
  4. In the Create Connector Block PropertyManager, under Standard Views, select the views that you want to appear in the drawing file.
  5. Under Insert Pin Information, select the face of each connector that you want to have pin information.
    For each face you select:
    • A line titled Face <n> appears under Insert Pin Information.
    • A line is added to the Selected Entities table.

  6. In the Selected Entities table, under Pin Text, enter the text you want to appear with the corresponding pins in the drawing.
    • For example: Pin 1, Pin 2, Pin 3...

  7. Click .
  8. Click File > Save.
    SOLIDWORKS creates a drawing file with the same name and location that you set in Step 2.
    On the connector block, the annotation reading 000 represents the connector block's wire or cable entry point, and the annotation reading 111 represents the pins of the end connectors.
    For best results, do not alter the positions of these annotations.
