OLE Objects

This information is specific to one or more CAD systems. See the SolidWorks eDrawings functionality matrix for availability information.

Embedded OLE objects in DWG files, native SolidWorks documents, and in SolidWorks documents saved as eDrawings files, are visible in the eDrawings Viewer. You can embed eDrawings files in Word and PowerPoint files as OLE objects.

OLE objects are read-only in the SolidWorks eDrawings Viewer; you cannot double-click to open them.
OLE objects are only displayed in the sheet on which they appear in the SolidWorks document. For example, OLE objects are not visible on layout sheets created in the eDrawings Viewer.
OLE objects in eDrawings part and assembly files are static items; they do not move with the model.
