Placing Callout Blocks and Label Blocks on a Sheet

Callout blocks are symbols that reference other drawing sheets.

You can use blocks as callout blocks or label blocks in a drawing sheet set.

A callout block can be an individual drawing file or a block definition within another drawing or template.

A callout block includes attribute definitions, such as the view number, the drawing sheet number, and other additional information associated with the drawing sheet or view that you have referenced. Callout blocks automatically update when drawing sheet set properties change.

You can assign any number of callout blocks to an entire drawing sheet set or to a view class.

To use callout blocks and place them on a sheet:

  1. Use callout blocks.
    1. Create your callout blocks.
You can create several blocks in a drawing file or store each block in a separate drawing file.
    2. Assign your blocks to drawing sheet sets using the Drawing Sheet Set properties.
    3. Add views on your sheets.
When you add views on your sheets, the assigned callout blocks that contain view-specific information automatically displays on the sheet.
  2. Place a callout block on a sheet.
    1. In the Sheet Set Manager, open a drawing sheet set.
    2. On the Drawing Sheet List tab, open a sheet.
    3. On the Sheet Views tab, navigate to the sheet view with which to associate the callout block. The Preview area displays previews of the selected sheet view.
    4. Right-click the sheet view and select Place Callout Block from the context menu.
The menu displays all the blocks that you specified.
If you have not specified the callout blocks for the drawing sheet set, the List of Blocks dialog box appears.
    5. Specify the callout block to place on the sheet.
The view and the drawing sheet number automatically display in the callout.
    6. In the graphics area, specify the insertion point of the callout block.
DraftSight places the callout block on the sheet. The callout block displays information about the associated view.
