Modify data within Excel

SOLIDWORKS Electrical allows you to export the electrical project data to Excel files. These files are formatted to be used by SOLIDWORKS Electrical. Some precautions must be taken, otherwise, you will not be able to import the data.

Hidden columns and rows

Column A contains IDs. These are the links with the database records.

Row 2 contains a special code used to link the data type with the database fields.

Special sheet

The Excel file has a special sheet, named ew_header. This hidden sheet contains specific data.

If you change or delete these links, the import wizard will not be able to compare it with the existing electrical project data.

What you can and cannot do

You can modify the data from column B and row 3.

You mustn't:

- Add a new row

- Delete a column

- Rename a column

- Delete or rename a sheet

- Modify the hidden sheet, row, and column

- Delete the hidden sheet, row, and column
