You
can
use
the Convert dialog box to convert SOLIDWORKS files to other
file formats supported by SOLIDWORKS.
To display this dialog box:
- In SOLIDWORKS PDM File Explorer,
select the files to convert, right-click, and click Convert.
- In the Administration tool, under Tasks, click Task List. In the
Task List dialog box, click Add Task, select the Convert task, and select the files to convert.
The options available in this dialog box depend on
how the
Convert Files task is configured. Some settings described might not
appear.

Task Card
A tab containing an input card appears if the task is configured to prompt
for information.
Conversion Settings
Output file format |
Format to which selected files are converted. If the selected output file format supports conversion options,
click Conversion Options to display a dialog box that lets
you specify the options.

Output file path |
Location where converted files are saved. Build the output file path by
entering
static text (characters that stay the same) and clicking
to select from the
following dynamic (changing) variables:
- Source File Name
- Source File Extension
- Configuration Name
- Source Folder Path
- Vault Root Folder Path
- Source File Revision
- Source File Version
- Source File Workflow State
- Today's Date
The example below the field shows a representation of the
defined path.

Configurations
When models are converted, the Configurations tab specifies how to handle configurations during
conversion.

configuration that was used is converted.

* as wildcard)Only configurations you
specify are converted. You cannot use the @
configuration as a named configuration.

Sheets
When drawings are converted, the Sheets tab specifies how drawing sheets are output.

converted.

The Assembly and Part tabs let
you define the themes and views to publish in the output.

Theme
Path Full path to the folder that contains the Theme.xml file. Do not include the file
name. If the theme file is in the vault, Theme.xml and additional theme content must be cached
before the task execution. If the theme file is present outside the
vault, it must be accessible to the task
host.

the theme path Lets users change the
path of the theme file during the task execution.

Select Views to
include |
3D Views (Default.) Includes all captured 3D views except the
current model view in the output file.

Primary
Views Lets you select the primary views
like front, top, and back to include in the output file.

Source file references
When the files being converted contain references, these options control
how to handle the references.

Uses the version of the referenced files that
was used when the file being converted was built. |

Finish |
Initiates task execution. If there is no input card for the task, Finish is replaced
by OK.
