Applying Symmetry Fixtures to Shell Edges

Since shell elements have translational and rotational degrees of freedom, you need to restrain the shell edges of symmetry from rotating about the axial and radial directions in addition to restraining the translation in the tangential direction.

1. Activate the Shells configuration.
2. In the Partial-Shells study tree, right-click Fixtures and select Advanced Fixtures.
3. In the PropertyManager, select Symmetry .
4. In the graphics area, select the six edges of symmetry as shown for Planar Faces, or Linear or Planar Edges on Shell for Fixture .
   
5. Click .
   The Symmetry fixture automatically applies the proper translation and rotation conditions.
