Defining Angle as a Parameter

An angle is used as the driving dimension to determine the number of instances in the circular pattern CirPattern1. The angle between the spokes is the variable defined for the Evaluation Design Study.

The parameter for the angle between the spokes is defined in the example file. To follow the procedure below, delete the pre-defined parameter in the Parameters dialog box. To delete the parameter, right-click the Parameters node in the Simulation study tree and select Delete.
  1. Right-click the Scenarios study tab and click Create New Design Study.
  2. Double-click the Design Study tab and rename the study as Pulley_Designs.
  3. On the Table View tab of the Pulley_Designs study tab, in the Variables section, select Add Parameter.
    The Parameters dialog box appears.
  4. In the Parameters dialog box, for Name, type Angle.
  5. Set Category to Model Dimension.
  6. In the graphics area, click the 180° driving dimension shown in the figure.

D2@CirPattern1@Pulley.Part appears in the Model Dimension box.

  7. Click OK to close the Parameters dialog box.
You can define more than one variable in a Design Study, such as the diameter of the pulley, the material properties, or the mesh size.
