User Interface Overview This lesson helps you find your way around SOLIDWORKS by showing the location and explaining the purposes of the main user interface areas. For more information, see User Interface Overview. Contents Welcome Dialog Box When you open SOLIDWORKS, the Welcome dialog box appears. Standard Toolbar and Menus The Standard toolbar contains basic commands, including New, Open, and Save. CommandManager The CommandManager is a context-sensitive toolbar that dynamically updates based on the toolbar you want to access. By default, it has toolbars embedded in it based on the document type. FeatureManager Design Tree The FeatureManager design tree provides a tree view of all the sketches and features that comprise a model. Task Pane The Task Pane contains several tabs that all serve different purposes. Graphics Area The graphics area is the main area of the interface where you view and build models. Status Bar The bottom of the SOLIDWORKS window contains a status bar. It displays important information about the model such as its editing status, the assigned unit system, and pointer coordinates.
