Circle

Sketch the following circles:

Circle types

Tool

Circle properties

Center Circle

Sketches center-based circles.

Perimeter Circle

Sketches perimeter-based circles.

 The SolidWorks application defaults to the last used circle type.

Circle Sketch Commands

Access the circle tools by:

  • Sketch tab. Clicking the Circle Command Manager to select circle tools from the Circle flyout tool.

  • Menu. Clicking Tools, Sketch Entities to select circle tools.

  • Circle PropertyManager. Changing to different circle tools from the Circle PropertyManager.

To sketch a center-based circle:

  1. Click Circle art\CIRCLE.gif.

  2. Click to place the center of the circle.

 

  1. Drag and click to set the radius.

  2. Click OK .

To sketch a perimeter-based circle:

  1. Click Perimeter Circle .

  2. Click to place the perimeter.

  3. Drag left or right to sketch the circle.

  1. Right-click to set the circle.

  2. Click OK .

To modify a circle by dragging:

In an open sketch:

    • Increase the perimeter by dragging its edge away from its center point.

    • Decrease the perimeter by dragging its edge toward its center point.

    • Move the circle by dragging its center point.

To change the properties of a circle:

    In an open sketch, select the circle and edit its properties in the Circle PropertyManager.
