Quick Uploading SolidWorks Files (Add-In)

You can quickly upload the entire active file active in SolidWorks without having to go to the Files Active in SolidWorks workspace.

  1. Click Upload button Upload from the main tool bar.

    The Upload Files window opens.

All referenced files are automatically selected for uploading.

  2. (Option) To filter the upload list, click the Viewing list and click one of the following:
    • All files—All files are displayed.
    • Only new and modified—Only files that have not previously been uploaded, or that have been modified are displayed.
    • Only warnings and errors—Only files with warnings and/or errors associated with them are displayed.
    • Parts—Only parts files are displayed; assemblies and drawings are excluded.
    • Assemblies—Only assembly files are displayed; parts and drawings are excluded.
    • Drawings—Only drawing files are displayed; parts and assemblies are excluded.

The upload list is filtered to display only the relevant items.

Filtering the list will not change which items are selected for upload.

  3. (Option) To exclude one or more referenced files from an assembly or drawing from being uploaded, do the following:
    1. Click Expand list icon, located next to the file name, to expand the list of referenced files.
    2. Click the checkbox next to each part you want to exclude from uploading to deselect it.
  4. (Option) To include referenced drawings, click Include drawings.
  5. Select the workspace to which you want to upload the file from the Destination workspace list.

You can only select a destination workspace for new file uploads. If you are updating a file, it will automatically be uploaded to the same workspace as it was previously.

  6. (Option) To create a new workspace, do the following:
    1. Select Create New Workspace from the Destination workspace list.
    2. Type the name of the new workspace into the text field.
    3. Click OK.

The workspace is created, and the Destination workspace list selection changes to the newly created workspace.

  7. Click Upload.

Only new or changed files are selected for upload by default. If no files are selected, the Upload button is unavailable.

    • The selected files are uploaded to the specified workspace.
    • The version numbers of all files are incremented by one (new files become version 1).
    • You are returned to the previous workspace.
