Downloading Files (Add-In)

  1. Click to select one or more files.

    You can use theCtrl key to select multiple non-contiguous files. You can also click and drag a selection window over the files you want to select.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Right-click on any selected item and click Download.
    • Click Action button and click Download.
    • Hover the mouse pointer over any selected item, click Menu button Download.

    The Download Files window opens.

  3. (Option) To filter the download list, click the Viewing list and click one of the following:
    • All files—All files are displayed.
    • Only new and modified—Only files that have not previously been uploaded, or that have been modified are displayed.
    • Only warnings and errors—Only files with warnings and/or errors associated with them are displayed.
    • Parts—Only parts files are displayed; assemblies and drawings are excluded.
    • Assemblies—Only assembly files are displayed; parts and drawings are excluded.
    • Drawings—Only drawing files are displayed; parts and assemblies are excluded.

    The download list is filtered to display only the relevant items.

    Filtering the list will not change which items are selected for download.

  4. (Option) To exclude one or more referenced files from an assembly or drawing from being downloaded, do the following:
    1. Click Expand list icon, located next to the file name, to expand the list of referenced files.
    2. Click the checkbox next to each part you want to exclude from downloading to deselect it.
  5. (Option) To download an older version of the selected files, click the Select Version list and click to select the version you want to download.
  6. Click the Select Action list to select a download option:
    • Download only—Downloads the files to the specified location.
    • Download and update (Shown if the selected files are currently open in SolidWorks)—Downloads the files to the specified location and opens them in SolidWorks, replacing the versions currently open.
    • Download and open (Shown if the selected files are not currently open in SolidWorks)—Downloads the files to the specified location and opens them in SolidWorks.
  7. Specify the destination folder for the specified files by doing one of the following:
    • Click ... and browse to the destination folder you want to use.
    • Type the absolute path of the folder to which you want to download the selected files into the Destination text field.
      If you type in the destination folder path manually, note the following:
      • An absolute path includes the drive letter and all other directories that contain the specified destination folder. An example is: C:\path\to\destination\
      • The specified folder must already exist on your system.
      • The path cannot contain more than 255 characters.
      • The path cannot contain any illegal characters.
  8. Click Download.
