Update data

Where changes have been made to SOLIDWORKS Electrical data, (symbols, manufacturer parts, etc.), it may be necessary to update electrical project data to reflect the latest changes.

 

Menu: Process > Update data

 

This command automatically displays the Update project data wizard.

Step 1. Update project data

Unlike other Wizards in SOLIDWORKS Electrical, the command to update the data does not have an option to save/load configuration files. All the data are processed by default and the Finish button can be clicked to automatically update all the managed electrical project data.

 

In order to selectively update electrical project data, select the Next button.

Step 2. Selection

The second screen in the wizard lists the data that can be included in the update. Users connected to an ERP database have the possibility to update the ERP database in addition to the electrical project drawing information.

 

Where a data type has been selected for update but none is required, an alert will be shown.

Step 3. Manufacturer parts

State: The State column indicates the validity of the selected reference. Double-clicking State field displays a pop-up dialog with information relating to why the reference replacement is not valid.

The State field is for information purposes only; all references will be replaced regardless of whether the data is considered incompatible.

Manufacturer: Shows the manufacturer names located within the electrical project.

Reference: Shows the electrical project manufacturer part.

Existing instance: Indicates the number of instances located throughout the electrical project.

Different instance: Indicates the number of instances to be updated.

Select: Check the boxes of the manufacturer parts to be included in the data update.

Step 4. Cable references

State: The State column indicates the validity of the selected reference. Double-clicking State field displays a pop-up dialog with information relating to why the reference replacement is not valid.

The State field is for information purposes only; all references will be replaced regardless of whether the data is considered incompatible.

Manufacturer: Shows the manufacturer names located within the electrical project.

Reference: Shows the electrical project reference.

Existing instance: Indicates the number of instances located throughout the electrical project.

Different instance: Indicates the number of instances to be updated.

Select: Check the boxes of the reference to be included in the data update.

Step 5. Symbols

State: The State column indicates the validity of the selected symbol. Double-clicking State field displays a pop-up dialog with information relating to why the symbol replacement is not valid.

The State field is for information purposes only; all symbols will be replaced regardless of whether the data is considered incompatible.

Name: Shows the symbol names located within the electrical project.

Existing instance: Indicates the number of instances located throughout the electrical project.

Different instance: Indicates the number of instances to be updated.

Select: Check the boxes of the symbols to be included in the data update.

 

The previews on the right of the dialog show the current/existing symbol and the symbol it will be updated by.

Step 6. Title blocks

State: The State column indicates the validity of the selected title block. Double-clicking a State field displays a pop-up dialog with information relating to why the title block replacement is not valid.

The State field is for information purposes only; all title blocks will be replaced regardless of whether the data is considered incompatible.

Name: Shows the title block names located within the electrical project.

Existing instance: Indicates the number of instances located throughout the electrical project.

Different instance: Indicates the number of instances to be updated.

Select: Check the boxes of the title blocks to be included in the data update.

 

The previews on the right of the dialog show the current/existing title block and the title block will be replaced by.

Step 7. Update project data

Selecting the Finish button to update the electrical project drawings and database with the items that have been selected for updating.

 

Attention: This command cannot be reversed. It is recommended that the electrical project is archived prior to running the command if the user is unsure about any aspect of the data to be updated.
