2D footprint management

The 2D footprint management groups together all of the 2D footprints that can be used in 2D equipment layouts. The 2D footprints have filtering criteria allowing classification.

 

Menu: Library > 2D footprint management

 

The 2D footprint management dialog box opens. This allows you to add, edit or delete 2D footprints.

 

The left-hand side of the 2D footprint management has two tabs.

Classification

This tab displays the 2D footprint classification as a tree.

The left side of the dialog box shows the 2D footprint classes, the right shows the 2D footprints in the currently selected class.

Filters

This tab allows you to filter the 2D footprint list. All filter criteria are the same as those present in the 2D footprint properties.

The right side of the dialog box displays the 2D footprints corresponding to the selected criteria.

Remove filter: Click this button to remove all filter criteria.

 

 

The right-hand side of the 2D footprint management displays the 2D footprint corresponding to the selection or search criteria you entered on the left-hand side of the 2D footprint management.

The 2D footprints are displayed in the form of a list (List mode icon) or the form of thumbnails (Thumbnail mode icon).

 

Some of these features accept the multi-selection, such as Delete or Properties.

 

New: Allows you to add a new 2D footprint to the library.

Open: Opens the selected 2D footprint in the graphical interface or in DraftSight to modify it.

Import DWG files: Allows you to import a DWG file as a 2D footprint.

Delete: Deletes the selected 2D footprints.

Properties: Opens the Properties dialog box of the selected 2D footprints. If you select several 2D footprints, the Properties dialog box displays only the common properties.

Preview: Opens the 2D footprint in a preview dialog box. This interface does not allow any modifications.

Cut: Places a copy of the selected 2D footprints on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard and deletes the originals.

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [X]

Copy: Places a copy of the selected 2D footprints on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard and keeps the originals. The Copy command can be used also to copy the selected element list to another application such as Excel (List mode only).

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [C]

Paste: Pastes the 2D footprint present on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard. A new 2D footprint is created.

You can also use the shortcut: [Ctrl] + [V]

Select all: Allows you to select all of the 2D footprints displayed on the right-hand side of the 2D footprint management.

List mode: Displays 2D footprints in the form of a list (Name, Description, classification). In this mode, you can copy the list of the selected element to another application, such as Excel.

Thumbnail mode: Displays 2D footprints in the form of thumbnail previews.

Configuration: Allows you to manage the display settings for items in the dialog box.

Archive: Select the elements you want to archive and click the Archive icon.

A dialog box opens, allowing you to save the archive file.

Unarchive: A dialog box opens where you can select a TEWZIP file for unarchiving. The Update data wizard will open automatically. Refer to the Archive / Unarchive chapter for more information.

Classification management: Allows you to manage the different classes in which the 2D footprints are stored.

 

Display sub-classes content: When the box is checked, it displays all the objects contained in the sub-class of the selected class.

Keep the dialog opened: When this option is selected, the dialog box does not close when you open an object.
