A version is a snapshot of an item or file in the vault.
Use
SOLIDWORKS PDM
File Explorer to manage file versions.
Each time you or another user changes an item and checks it into the
vault, the system assigns a new version number, starting at 1 and incrementing to 2, 3,
and so on. You can use version numbers to retrieve a specific item snapshot from the
vault.
When Item Explorer displays two numbers for a version, the first number is
the local (cached) version and the second number is the latest version in the vault. For
example, 4/6
means
that
you are viewing version 4 of 6. A hyphen (-
) as the local version indicates the item is locally modified.
If you check in an item without making changes, the system does not assign
a new version number.
Version labels are not supported for items.
