Positioning Notes

You can position notes in the following ways:
  • Specify the position of a selected note from the Note PropertyManager or select Display on the screen from Parameters.
  • Select a note and use Move Entities (Sketch toolbar) to move the note. You can also specify the change in note coordinates, or use snaps to snap a note to a new position.
  • Drag notes around.
  • From the Text Format section of the Note PropertyManager, set the vertical alignment of note text.
  • Use a rectangle to position a note.

Specifying Note Position from X-Y Coordinates

You can specify the position of a selected note from the Note PropertyManager or select Display on the screen from Parameters.

To specify note position from its on-screen X-Y coordinates:

  1. Select a note.
  2. From the Note PropertyManager, select Display on the screen from Parameters.

    Coordinate fields appear in the graphics area.

  3. Modify the X-Y coordinates for the selected note in the X and Y fields that appear. The (0,0) position is the lower left corner of the drawing sheet.
  4. Click away from the note to close the coordinate fields.

    When you select Display on the screen in the Note PropertyManager after selecting a note, X-Y coordinate fields appear on the drawing for all notes you subsequently select.

Specifying Note Position Using Move

You can use the Move Entities tool to move a note to a new position.

To move a note entity:

  1. Right-click the note and select Move Entities.
  2. From the Move PropertyManager, select:
    • X/Y and type values for the relative X- and Y-coordinate positions
      The X- and Y-coordinate positions you supply are positive or negative values relative to the current note coordinates.
    • From/To and in the graphics area, select the Start point, move your mouse, and click to set the final note position
      After selecting From/To, you can right-click the note to select a Quick Snaps option to select a destination:
      • Point Snap
      • Center Point Snap
      • Midpoint Snap
      • Quadrant Snap
      • Intersection Snap
      • Nearest Snap
      • H/V Point Snap
      • Grid Snap

Aligning Note Text Vertically

From the Text Format section of the Note PropertyManager, set the vertical alignment of note text.

To set the vertical alignment of note text:

  1. Select the note.
  2. In the Text Format section of the Note PropertyManager, select one:
    • Top Align
    • Middle Align
    • align_vert_bottom.png Button Bottom Align

Using a Rectangle to Position a Note

To use a rectangle to position a note:

  • Select a note and rectangle, then right-click the note and select Snap to Rectangle Center to use a rectangle to position a note.
