Edit Wires PropertyManager

The Edit Wires PropertyManager appears when, after defining paths between connectors in the route sub-assembly, you associate cable/wire data with the paths.

Wire From-To List

If you have previously added wire data, either manually or with a from-to list, it appears in Wire From-To List.

If you have not previously added wire data, Wire From-To List is blank.

The icons and color of the text in Wire From-To List indicates the status of the cables, cores, or wires:

Text color Status
PM_EditWires_path_undefined.gif Magenta The path for the wire is not defined.
PM_EditWires_path_defined.gif Black The path for the wire is defined.
PM_EditWires_path_undefined.gif Red The path for the wire contains an error. To display the error message, select the wire name, then click Whats Wrong? PM_EditWires_WhatsWrong.gif
Click EXPAND.gif to expand a cable listing to show each core.
PM_EditWires_RefreshWires.gif Refresh Wires If you make many changes to the paths, click to assure that all paths are updated and the route diameters are recalculated.
PM_EditWires_AddWires.gif Add Wire Click to specify the wires and cables to use in the route.
PM_EditWires_DeleteWires.gif Delete Wire Click to delete a selected item from the list.
PM_EditWires_WhatsWrong.gif Whats Wrong Click to display error messages for items marked PM_EditWires_path_undefined.gif.
Twisted Pair Click to identify two or more wires to braid into a twisted pair and calculate its cut length. The wires must be of the same type and diameter.
PM_EditWires_ReplaceWires.gif Replace Wire Click to replace the selected item with another item. After selecting the new item, you can click:
  • Yes to delete the existing item and replace it with the new item. The new item assumes the path and connectivity data of the item it is replacing.
  • No to keep the existing item, and add the new item. The new item assumes the same path and connectivity data as the existing item.
Select path Click Select path to specify the path for the selected item. The heading of the box becomes Cable, Core, or Wire, followed by the item's specification name. Then:
  1. Select segments in the graphics area to define the path of the item, starting at one connector and ending at another.
  2. Click PM_Next.gif to move to the next item in Wire From-To List.
  3. Repeat steps a and b until you have defined the path for each cable, core, or wire, then click PM_OK.gif.
The paths for the items are defined. The cut length of each item appears in angle brackets after the item name. The calculated route diameter updates based on the diameters of the cables or wires you select for each path. The model updates in the graphics area to display approximately the correct diameter.
