«Datum Identifier» Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to configure datum identifier symbol properties.

Symbol

Options

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

Datum on far side Switches between a solid or dashed leader line. A dashed leader line indicates the far side surface. The picture illustrates the current state.

Requirements

Groups options for specifying the datum.

Moving the mouse cursor over the editing fields displays tooltips.

Insert symbol Lets you specify a special character from the list to be inserted at the current cursor position.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow datum notes.

Identifier Lets you specify a label for the datum identifier.The label can have a maximum of two characters.

Note: According to technical standards, you must not use I, O, and Q letters for datum identifier symbols.

Datum note Lets you specify reference datum targets that correspond to one or more points on a surface. You can specify a series of datum targets separated by commas.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow datum notes.

Thread note Lets you specify which diameter of a screw or gear to use as the datum.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow thread notes.

Leader and Text

Leader

Arrowhead Specifies the type of triangle to use at the end of the leader line. The drop-down lists arrowheads conforms to the current drafting standard. The default arrowhead is the standard arrowhead for symbols. You can specify it in the Options dialog box.
Surface arrowhead Specifies the type of arrowhead to use at the end of the surface indication leader. Specifying By Standard, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the symbol updates automatically.
This option is available only if a surface indication line exists for the modified symbol.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

Edit entity attachment Lets you attach or detach the datum identifier symbol to an entity.

Surface extension line

Offset from entity Specifies the distance between the extension line start point and the attached entity.
Extension beyond leader Specifies the distance between the leader start point and the extension line start point.

Settings

Opens the Datum and Feature Identifier Settings dialog box where you can specify the default settings for the current drafting standard.

This dialog box lets you specify the default settings of datum and feature identifier symbol for the current drafting standard.

Leader

Arrowhead Specifies the default leader arrowhead type for primary and secondary leaders of feature control frame symbols. Specifying By StandardName, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the feature control frame automatically updates.
Size Specifies the default size of the arrowhead.
Surface arrowhead Specifies the arrowhead to use for surface indication leaders. This option is visible only for the standards that allow surface indication leaders.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

Far side LineStyle Specifies the linetype to use for surface indication lines that point to hidden surfaces.

Note: This option is available for ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

LineColor Specifies the default leader color for datum identifier symbols.

Text

Lets you specify the default text height and color for the datum identifier symbol.

Restore Defaults

Restores all values from the drafting standard.

Command: AM_DatumIdentifier, AM_DatumIdentifierEdit

Menu: Mechanical Annotate > Symbols > Datum Identifier > Create, Edit

Ribbon: Mechanical Annotate > Symbols > Datum Identifier > Create, Edit
