Mechanical Toolbox Favorites

When you use specific hardware components or hole configurations frequently, you can store their settings as favorites in your Mechanical Toolbox profile and access them from the Toolbox - Hardware or Toolbox - Holes dialog boxes.

You define a favorite by specifying the properties, creation method, and settings for a hardware component or hole configuration and then adding the component or configuration to a Favorites list.

Note: You must specify a unique name for each favorite.

Mechanical Toolbox retains the values you specified even when you work with other components or leave and return to the Toolbox - Hardware or Toolbox - Holes dialog boxes. To use the component again, you select it from the Favorites list, which repopulates the fields of the dialog box with the saved values.

Three buttons on the right edge of the Toolbox - Hardware and Toolbox - Holes dialog boxes let you create, access, and manage your favorites:

Button Description
Favorites Manager Opens the Toolbox - Hardware Favorites or Toolbox - Hole Favorites dialog box, where you can view, rename, or delete your saved favorites.
By default, Mechanical Toolbox lists your favorites for all categories.
You can view just the favorites that are based on the current standard you are using, or expand the list to see favorites for all standards.
Add to Favorites Opens the Toolbox - Add to Favorites dialog box, where you can save the current component settings as a favorite.

Favorites you have defined are listed.
You can view just the favorites that are based on the current category you are using, or expand the list to see favorites for all categories.
Mouse over a favorite to see its details.
Click a favorite to populate the dialog box with the saved details.

To edit a favorite, you open it from the Favorites pane, change its properties, and click Add to Favorites. By using the same name, you overwrite the original favorite.

Toolbox stores separate sets of favorites for hardware components and for hole configurations.
