Feature Control Frame Dialog Box

Use the Feature Control Frame dialog box to configure feature control frames which you can attach to entities in the drawing.

Standard

Displays the name of the standard.

Revision

Displays the most recent revision of the standard the symbol complies with.

The dialog box contains the following tabs:

Symbol Tab

Lets you configure the feature control frame symbol.

Requirements

Groups parameters for specifying the variations.

Insert symbol Lets you insert a special character at the current cursor position.
Top notes Lets you specify the text to display above the feature control frame. In the drawing area, the notes and the feature control frame move together as a single entity.
Geometric symbol Lets you specify the geometric characteristic symbol for which you are defining the tolerance. The list of available symbols depends on the current standard.
Tolerance 1 Specifies primary tolerance data. You can use the Insert symbol list to insert special characters, such as the diameter symbol or the maximum material condition symbol.
Tolerance 2 Specifies secondary tolerance data. This option is available for ANSI standards only.
Datum Specifies the datum from which the tolerance is measured. The order of datum is important.
Bottom notes Lets you specify the text to display under the feature control frame. In the drawing area, the notes and the feature control frame move together as a single entity.

Clear

Clears all the data and restores the default values.

Leader and Text Tab

Leader

Primary arrowhead Specifies the type of the primary leader arrowhead. Specifying By Standard, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the symbol updates automatically.
Secondary arrowhead Specifies the type of the secondary leader arrowhead. Specifying By Standard, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the symbol updates automatically.
Surface arrowhead Specifies the type of arrowhead to use at the end of the surface indication leader. Specifying By Standard, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the symbol updates automatically.
This option is available only if a surface indication line exists for the modified symbol.
Edit leader segments Groups options for adding and removing leaders, leader segments, and leader nodes.
Edit entity attachment Lets you attach or detach a feature control frame to an entity.

Surface extension line

Offset from entity Specifies the distance between the extension line start point and the attached entity.
Extension beyond leader Specifies the distance between the leader start point and the extension line start point

Settings

Opens the Feature Control Frame Settings dialog box, where you can specify the default settings for the current drafting standard.

Feature Control Frame Settings Dialog Box

This dialog box lets you specify the default settings of feature control frames for the current drafting standard.

Revision

Displays the most recent revision of the standard the symbol complies with.

Merge styles Groups options for merging cells by removing duplicate tolerance types, tolerance zones, and datum references.
  • Merge symbol. Merges adjacent symbol cells, if the cells contain the same symbol.
  • Merge tolerance. Merges vertically adjacent tolerance cells, if the values are identical.
  • Merge datums. Merges vertically adjacent datum cells, if the tolerances are identical.
  • Adjust cells to vertically align. Adds spaces so that cells of similar zones are of the same width.
Symbol filter Lets you specify which geometric dimensioning and tolerancing symbols will be available for insertion in feature control frames.
  • Category. Lets you specify a category of symbols to display in the list of symbols.
  • Symbol list. Displays a list of symbols for the selected category. Enabling symbols in the list makes the available for insertion using the AM_FeatureControlFrame command.
  • Symbol text style. Specifies a text style for the geometric symbols used in feature control frames. This option is available only for custom standards.
Leader
  • Arrowhead. Specifies the default leader arrowhead type for primary and secondary leaders of feature control frame symbols. Specifying By StandardName, lets you use the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. When you change the arrowhead specified for the current drafting standard in the Standard Settings dialog box, the arrowhead of the feature control frame automatically updates.
  • Size. Specifies the default size of the arrowhead.
  • Surface arrowhead. Specifies the arrowhead to use for surface indication leaders. This option is visible only for the standards that allow surface indication leaders.
  • Color. Specifies the default leader color for feature control frame symbols.
Text Lets you specify the default text height and color for the symbol from the feature control frame.
