Centrifugal Load PropertyManager

You can use the Centrifugal PropertyManager to apply angular velocity and acceleration to a part or an assembly in static, frequency, buckling, or nonlinear studies.

To open the Centrifugal PropertyManager, do one of the following:

  • Click the down arrow icon_down_arrow.gif on External Loads tool_External_Loads.gif (Simulation CommandManager) and select Centrifugal Force tool_loads_centrifugal.gif.
  • In the Simulation study tree, right-click External Loads icon_external_loads.gif, and select Centrifugal icon_centrifugal.gif.

Selected Reference

PM_face.gif Axis, Edge, Cylindrical Face for Direction Select an axis, an edge, or a cylindrical face to specify the direction of the centrifugal velocity and acceleration. The load is applied about the selected axis or face.

Centrifugal Force

PM_units.gif Unit Sets the units that are used to enter for the velocity and acceleration values.
PM_angular_velocity.gif Angular Velocity Specifies a value for an angular velocity on the part or assembly.
PM_angular_acceleration.gif Angular Acceleration Specifies a value for an angular acceleration on the part or assembly.
Reverse direction Reverses the direction of either the angular velocity or angular acceleration about the selected axis.

Variation with Time

For nonlinear studies, you can define a time-dependent centrifugal load.

Linear Uses a default linear time curve which passes through the points (0,0) and (tend, A). Where A is the value of angular velocity or angular acceleration specified in the Centrifugal Force box and tend is the End time specified on the Solution tab of the Nonlinear dialog box.
Curve Uses a user-defined time curve. Click Edit to define or import a time curve. The angular velocity or angular acceleration is calculated at any time by multiplying the value specified in the Centrifugal Force box by the Y value of the time curve.
Graph Displays the actual time-dependent centrifugal load components.

Symbol Settings

Sets the color and size of the centrifugal load symbol.

Edit color Sets the color for the centrifugal load symbol from the color palette.
PM_symbol_size.gif Symbol Size Sets the size of the centrifugal load symbol.
Show preview Toggles the preview display of centrifugal load symbols.
